Parent-Infant Psychotherapy

Working with parents and infants to strengthen early relationships and manage difficulties.

Service Description

During the earliest months of a baby’s life, both parents and baby are going through momentous changes and may require support. Parent-Infant psychotherapy is a supportive therapy that prioritizes the relationship between the parent/s and baby. This type of therapy is indicated when parents are struggling with an aspect of parenting or bonding with their baby, or when parents are worried about a particular difficulty their baby is having; for example sleeplessness, or excessive crying. Parent-infant therapy may also be helpful where a parent is struggling with post-natal mood difficulties or excessive anxieties.
